Soft ballistics ARES VPAM 2 SET - protection for the plate carrier in use

The soft ballistics ARES VPAM 2 SET is designed for users who want to equip their plate carrier with tested soft ballistics in the chest and back area. As a set of front and back inserts, it supports a uniform protective structure and is designed for use in a matching vest cover or carrying cover.

Protection performance and classification (VPAM 2 with close protection)

Protection class VPAM 2 with close-range fire is intended for typical threats from handguns. The insert is bullet-resistant against soft core bullets from handguns in caliber 9 x 19 mm FMJ. An attached shot is provided. Ballistic protection reduces the risk, but does not completely prevent injuries: Depending on the hit pattern, residual energy or trauma can be introduced into the body and lead to injuries.

The ballistic package consists of Twaron, a para-aramid high-performance fiber. Aramid fibers are known for their favorable strength-to-weight ratio and are used in soft ballistics to distribute and dissipate the kinetic energy of a projectile over several layers. The construction is designed for a flat profile: The thickness is 6 mm with a basis weight of 3.6 kg/m². The insert is manufactured in Germany (Made in Germany) and comes with a 10-year warranty.

Protected body areas

As a set of front and back inserts, the soft ballistic ARES VPAM 2 SET is designed to protect the torso area. The front covers the chest area, the back protects the back area. This is particularly relevant because vital structures are located in this zone and the soft ballistics can serve as basic protection against handgun threats. To ensure a secure fit, it is crucial that the insert fits snugly in the designated holder of the vest shell or plate carrier and does not twist or slip downwards.

Correct use / fitting instructions ("Strike Face")

Always wear ballistic inserts with the strike face facing outwards, i.e. towards the outer shell. The strike face is either explicitly marked with "Strike Face" or, if unmarked, the strike face is the side without technical data or manufacturer information printed on it.

The side with technical data is always the back and must be worn facing the body. When fitting, make sure that the insert sits completely in the holder, is not kinked and fills the contour of the cover cleanly.

Care instructions

Clean the insert with a damp cloth if it becomes dirty. The welded TPU film prevents UV radiation and moisture from penetrating the aramid package. Do not use any chemical cleaning agents, as these can attack the TPU film and impair the performance of the aramid.

Compatibility / fit / carrier system

The insert is intended for use in a suitable vest cover or carrying cover. The insert cannot be worn properly without a cover. The fit is designed for the ARES plate carrier; it is particularly suitable for use in the ARES vest plate carrier with the pockets provided. The secure fit of third-party sleeves may be affected, for example by different internal dimensions, different pocket geometries or a lack of fastening. In this case, take particular care to ensure the correct fit and complete coverage of the desired area.
